* EleBBS Support List I remember that. I don't use it any more, but I do recall editing the script. -----Original Message----- From: Philip Lozier [mailto:steeplejack{at}nycap.rr.com] Sent: Saturday, December 04, 2004 12:49 AM To: elebbs{at}thebbs.org Subject: EleBBS: validate.q-a - my setup or something else? * EleBBS Support List Hello Mike, Mike Ehlert wrote: > Anyways, I wrote a user email-verification script which might > help a bit as well. It's called ELEVAL02.ZIP > http://archives.thebbs.org/ra121a.htm I tries to install you validate script last night, and I seem to have one small problem here...( most likely something in my system setup) Anyway, what's happening is that when blat sends the mail, the e-mail address is getting cut at 18 characters, and I am getting mail subsytem delivery failure messages coming back at me for invalid addresses. I tested it out with two different accounts, and the e-mail addresses got cut as follows: steeplejack69{at}yahoo.com became steeplejack69{at}yaho steeplejack{at}nycap.rr.com became steeplejack{at}naycap. both 18 characters. The addresses are writing fine to the email.txt file, and they're showing up in the user records perfectly. Is this a problem with blat or something I have set up in my system wrong do you think? Blat version is 1.9.4 under XP. I love the idea of this script, and just in case anybody might want to know what I intend its use for, rather than having it set for access to the BBS itself, I am using it as a validator on a menu right before my network message menu to validate people to post in FidoNet. Until they enter their code, they don;t have an access level high enough that offers tham anything except "read only" in the FidoNet international areas.
