The Frequency Range Scan dialog box allows you to scan a range (or
several ranges) of specified frequencies. It also allows you to write
frequencies into memory. Click on the Scan button to start scanning, or
click on Close button to exit the dialog box (it will remember your
settings and ranges).
When scanning in this mode, and the scanner reaches the end of the
current range, it either goes to the next range selected, or loops back to
the start of the first range selected. In the above example, only the
400-420 MHz range has been selected.
The range list allows you to add and remove ranges, and you can click on
one or more ranges to select them for scanning. If no ranges are selected
in the list, the range specified in the entry panel on the left will apply.
Range scanning also allows you to automatically store frequencies in the
memory. To use this feature, enable AutoStore, and specify the first and
last memory numbers you want to store frequencies in. Select Confirm
Writing if you wish to be prompted before a frequency is stored into the
memory.
Manually entering a frequency - If you know what frequency you want to
tune into, simply type the frequency in! For example, if you want to tune
into 144.30 MHz, type 144.3M. To select different frequency units (kHz,
MHz and GHz), type K, M or G respectively, while entering a frequency. You
can also use the mouse to select all or part of the current frequency in
the frequency display, and then edit the frequency.
Stepping - Three methods of stepping among frequencies are provided:
Fixed, Auto, and Memory Stepping. To select a stepping method, press the
Select button in the Stepping group until the desired stepping method is
shown. You can also press the T key to the same effect.
To step through frequencies, press the Page Up or Page Down keys to step
up and down respectively. The effect of these keys will depend on the
stepping method selected and the setup for that method. You can also use
the mouse and click on the up and down arrow buttons next to the frequency
display.
Other methods of stepping through frequencies can be achieved by using
the Fine tuning control and the Duplex Separation.
Duplex separation provides a quick way to switch between the transmit
and receive frequencies belonging to a two-way transmission. The duplex
separation can be specified up to 100 MHz. To step up or down using the
duplex separation, press the Home or End keys respectively. Enter the
frequency separation in the box provided (shown below) and click on OK to
accept it.
