The US government is a hodgepodge of good and bad. When it sterilized
Indian women in the seventies, it was being bad. When it put this money
aside, it was being good. Sometimes I think it would be easier to deal
with a system that was all a villian, or all benevolent; but I guess the
reality is that that is not how human institutions , or human
individuals, work.

That would be worthy of a poem, or story, or novel. I wonder if there
are any Cowlitz thinking of writing it. I don't think *I* should write
it. I don't know enough about the Cowlitz to do it justice.
