Laurie Garrett, a specialist on the coronavirus, explained it in ways
better understood. The problem is cardiovascular. People with diabetes,
heart problems, and hypertension (high blood pressure) are most at
risk of dying. Of those who have died, 100 percent had hypertension.
Someone who does not have any of those conditions could contract the
virus, but would most likely only suffer mild symptoms, and maybe
none at all.

There are ways to lie with statistics. I am very familiar with
that, as are others. As explained by Dr. Garrett, those with certain
conditions are most likely to die. One can use statistics to find
those groups, as statistics is not an evil in and of itself. It is
how one chooses to use statistics that can make things misleading.
