I've used them for a few years now and don't find that to be the case. I
did experience one going dead and not coming back to life, but that was a
factory defect and they replaced it for free. If the sheriff dept didn't
buy the heavy duty 'Yellow' tops and bought the 'Red' top instead, they
were just asking for trouble. The Yellow top is made to deep cycle. And
they'd need the Yellow top to run the radios, computers and extra lights
they have in those cars.
