Attending sporting events or musical events is a shared experience.
So is smoking, among certain groups.

Opening day in the NFL. Empty stadiums, no fans allowed.
US Open Tennis championships. Empty stadiums, no fans allowed.
Other sporting events, same thing.

People are social creatures, and are not hermits. People will find
ways to interact with other people. That is the human condition, and
is who we are. Basic human nature. "No man is an island unto himself"
means exactly what the words mean.
