subject: Left handed machine sewer

Hi Sara,
SG> Advice needed. My friend is teaching her daughter to sew on the
SG> machine. We are both right handed but 10 year old, Christine, is a
SG> lefty. Does anyone know of any special equipment (other than
SG> scissors) or any good books or any hints that one would offer
I'm a lefty also but found it doesn't make much difference in machine
sewing. The machines are very right hand oriented, true, but Christine
will just have to work with it. I do cut out right handed; I was forced
to use my right hand for a number of years before left handed scissors
came out. Now I'm still more comfortable cutting right handed. (BTW, I
have a pair of left handed Fiskars shears I don't use; they need a good
home if she's interested.)
SG> encountering unique problems that those of us in a right handed world
 SG> never even thought of.
Give me some ideas of the problems she's having; that will help me give
better advice.
Catch you later,
Ruth
