At first, we had one Wal-mart (of 3 in town) that was posted. Strangely,
they also banned cameras at that store. :-O After a couple of good talks
about liability, they removed the sign.
OTOH, one of our Sam's Clubs posted the T.A.B.C. sign on their door. I
don't know if they still do, but we could simply point out that the sign
doesn't apply to us according to the law. Thus, if their intent is to
prevent concealed carry, they are failing.
I don't use fanny packs, but a friend of mine says he was in a store when
someone asked what was in the fanny pack (as a friendly question). Answer
- his checkbook, this guy hasn't had a chance to take the proficiency
yet. He just liked the Galco as a fanny pack. Still, it was interesting.
(So maybe your encounter wasn't interested in it as a holster!)
There is sort of an assumption that if you have a Galco fanny pack (and
they are easy to spot, BTW), you must be carrying. Well, that could be a
good thing, I guess. Maybe like those people who sell NRA hats to
tourists in Florida, Galco packs will become something people who don't
carry use to make bad guys think they do.
As I don't normally use a fanny pack - I carry a full-fledged briefcase
(yes, with a holster in it) - perhaps I'm making myself look unarmed. Or
maybe not - a briefcase is still pretty obvious. But if they think I'm
unarmed, they're in for a shock.
But if Galco hasn't considered the tactical value of a standard fanny
pack with their trademark on it, they're missing a great opportunity. :-)
