My sense is that in order to save G'kar's eye he would have had to
confront and likely kill Cartagia directly rather than waiting for the
charade to play out on Narn.  He probably would have ascended to the
throne at that point rather than the Regent being appointed.  By
risking his own plan for his enemy's sake it would have shown that he
was interested in G'kar's well being and not simply in using G'kar as
a means to an end.  This likely would have redeemed him in G'kar's
eyes.  Then either G'kar or Londo's newfound conscience would then
have prevented Londo from killing Morden for what was essentially
sport.  This would then allow him to avoid the Drakh invasion of
Centauri Prime.

I disagree with you on Selini, though, I think that was a necessary
act.\
