Perhaps it's overly arrogant to disagree with JMS about his own creation, but I tend to find it more satisfying to consider Morden the one who was already dead and Londo's acceptance of the keeper as his greatest fear. Consider that had he spared Morden that it might have been possible to avoid the Drakh invasion of Centauri Prime (probably simply by being able to learn about them in the first place) whereas sparing Sheridan is a redemptive act. If he has spared Sheridan, then he has redeemed himself and doesn't need to submit to his greatest fear. Secondly, as stated upthread, I think Londo's greatest fear was to lose control of his own fate and to be the puppet of others. After the years between tFoCP and WWE2 Londo is almost certainly no longer afraid of death at G'kar's hands; indeed he probably welcomes it. His death becomes the redemptive act because it's his death that makes his sparing of Sheridan meaningful. I would also note that the Great Maker's comments are from 1997, before the final half of season 4 let alone season 5. --- SBBSecho 2.12-Win32* Origin: Time Warp of the Future BBS - Home of League 10 (1:14/400) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 14/300 34/999 90/1 106/1 120/228 123/500 134/10 140/1 222/2 SEEN-BY: 226/0 249/303 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1410 1417 1418 266/1413 SEEN-BY: 280/1027 320/119 393/11 396/45 633/104 260 267 690/682 734 712/848 SEEN-BY: 800/432 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 105 109 200 2905/0 @PATH: 14/400 5 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
