That wasn't the case twelve years ago.  My first cell phone was a nokia and
it was analog.  I also had the same service you subscribe to.  Way too
expensive.  Something like thirty cents per minute.

Its AKA is Distinctive Ring.  It has three different ring patterns and
assigns them to the appropriate number -- all on a single phone line.  It
was a necessity for me at one time because I couldn't afford two separate
