As far as I'm concerned it is only a definition of convience
that is not written in stone.  You can mix and match the features
of almost any serving method.
Both NT and Netware can offer services to diskless workstations
or stations that only need printing/file storage.  Unix servers
can deal with terminals or allow terminal software access from
full featured stations.
Some servers are designed to operate more efficently in one mode
or the other under heavy use conditions.
