     I too have the Hayes Optima 288 V.34/V.FC + FAX (V.FC with chip upgrade
sent out last fall), and my modem has a problem determining
the line speed correctly. When I issue an AT-I3 I receive
the following results:
 AT-I3
 04-00858-530 25225 PASS
 04-00859-530 25225 PASS
 40-00540-BC 16683 PASS
 40-00540- B 13625 PASS
 OK
I would appreciate your help in this matter.
