RICHMOND, VA 4/7/04-- The spring NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race at Richmond
International Raceway has been renamed the Chevy American Revolution 400,
track officials announced today.  A new logo has also been created in time
for the sold out event that 
will be held "under the lights" on Saturday, May 15.

The new race name mirrors the company's well-received campaign that
highlights an "American Revolution" in the car industry.  The
original race name was the Pontiac Performance 400, but since General
Motors decided to focus all of its NASCAR resources on 
Chevrolet staring last fall, the decision was made to rename the race.
