Dear Donna,
If the cheese cloth is fairly loose, it might be best to use 3 or 4
layers. If you are using something like muslin, one sayer should be
enough.
I assume you were asking for the instructions to bleach the wax.
Here goes, but remember this is dangerous!!!!
Move your equipment out doors. I always use an old electric hot
plate for my wax heating, as there is so much less chance of it catching
fire if there is any overflow [ for ordinary use- not for bleaching as
the vessel is too small, an old electric coffee pot does well.] .
Get your pot [large] ready, perhaps half full of water. Add 1 cup of
household bleach. Insert de-junked wax-no more than a couple of pounds
in a big pot. Bring to wax melt temp. Stir. Turn off heat and allow to
solidify. The most important thing to remember is that you are creating
chlorine gas which can be deadly!!!! Stay up wind and don't breath the
stuff!!! I have done this many times entirely safely, but there is
danger !!! Also it is best to have your hotplate at or near ground
level and away from any play area. A big pot of hot water and molten
wax, can can scar a child for life. Like hot glue, hot wax can not be
let loose of.
Best of luck. Shalom, ll
