RR> Of course, I don't think they really care. I have come to the
RR> conclusion that the people ranting here really
RR> want Clinton back in so
RR> that it can force things to a head. They have
RR> some sort of wish for an
RR> all-out confrontation.
GP> Then you haven't been reading my msgs.
I have and that's what I have distilled from them.
In previous messages you've said things about this being the last election,
etc. that lead me to believe you think we're in for some sort of revolution
or at least a totalitarian state, presumably with "anti-government
terrorists" (as they'll be characterized in the press) taking up the fight.
Of course, they'll be as well focussed as the old pro-gun forces were and
will be denouncing each other, unable to co-operate, and generally make easy
pickings while being shocked that the public doesn't support them...
RR> Maybe they've seen Star Wars and Red Dawn a few
RR> too many times.
GP> And maybe they don't watch TV at all, or go to
GP> movies. That's why they
GP> still have some discernment left.
Which makes them less than 1% of the population.
- and clueless about where the public stands and what they believe.
GP> Voting for someone who will uphold & defend the
GP> Constitution is going to
GP> backfire? I think your route has already backfired.
Vote for whoever you like. Just don't expect it to save us. Unless they have
a genuine shot at winning it's an empty gesture. Voting for "Dirty" Harry
Callihan has as much effect and sends a stronger message but it won't put
anyone but Clinton in office.
GP> What are you going to do if you vote for Brady Bill-
GP> Bob Dole, & Klinton
GP> wins (just like happened when you voted for the
GP> anti-gun Bush-wack last
GP> time)? Have you thought about what "message you
GP> would be sending?" It
GP> will tell the International Fascist DemoPublican
GP> one-party system that they
GP> still have you by the balls, like a good sheeple .
GP> . . . fleeced again!
And your vote would just say "go ahead with your plans, I'll go play in the
corner." A vote for a guaranteed loser is still a loss. Just grow up and
admit it. It's too late in this election to reach the masses. Maybe in four
years we'll have had time but I doubt it. Too many insulting zealots keep
driving them away before they can be informed.
I've managed to convince a few but it's not done by standing on corners
shouting "Repent ye traitors!" You have to come off as rational and reasoned
or they walk away reinforced in their old position.
Sure, they may be sinners but you'll drive them away if shout that at them
first thing out of the box.
GP> Have you ever thought about what Dole would think
GP> if he won? He'd know for
GP> sure, with _your_ vote, that he has a nationwide
GP> referendum to impose more
GP> of his Brady Bills, AW bans & mag bans . . . . . &
GP> he'd be _right_. That
GP> will have been exactly what he has been doing,
GP> prior to getting elected.
GP> Is that the msg you want to send? More Brady Bills
GP> & bans? Apparantly it
GP> is, so go ahead & send it. Certainly you should
GP> vote for what you believe
GP> in.
Bad as he might be he doesn't have the hard-on that the Dems have for gun
control. With a decent amount of pro-2nd Repubs, Libertarians, etc. in the
congressional seats we could at least have a couple of years to educate,
recruit, etc.
Dole will know he's on thin ice, election/re-election-wise. With a veto-proof
congress he'll have to go along. He blows whichever way he thinks the wind is
headed. He doesn't try to generate opinion/policy the way Clinton & Co.
constantly do. Yeah, he's only the lesser of two evils but too many pro-2nd
people have been running in different directions all year and couldn't get
behind one candidate in the early days of this election.
Now we're in the campaign with no viable choice to win. We can opt out (your
way), try to minimize damage, or just stay home.
Those are the only real-life options, like it or not.
And I no longer have time to play with the irrational.
