Except this "church law," as interpreted by this Brazilian Archbishop
and the Vatican, are an extention of Catholic doctrine regarding
abortion.

*ALL* abortions are forbidden, even in the case of pregnancies of rape
or if the pregnancy threatens the woman's life.

One of my relatives, who is (was) Catholic, had an ectopic(sp?)
pregnancy.
It's where a fertilized egg lodges and starts growing in the woman's
Fallopian tube, where if is not removed kills both the woman and the
fetus.
My relative had an abortion, to save her life.
Her priest made sure my relative could no longer attend the church she
had been a faithful member, and told the whole congregation my relative
had had an abortion. He left out the part about it being threatening my
relative's life.
And the local Bishop backed up that priest.

My relative got some good news years later, when that priest was
sentenced to jail for a long time and died in jail, for molesting little
kids.

The Diocese paid millions to the victims.
The Bishop got probation for covering up the priest's crimes.

My relative is now an Episcopalian.
And she has 4 healthy, happy kids.

The RCC covers UP for crimes.

If anyone tells me that the RCC has stopped covering up for child
molesters in their ranks, I'll say "Yeah right, and monkeys are going to
fly out of my butt!"
