Roy Witt wrote in a message to Roger Nelson: RW> I would have made him buy you a new muffler. Or pay for the RW> installation. I spoke to the Used car manager and she told me to go ahead and have the muffler replaced and she would have her department absorb the cost. I thought that was very kind of her and refused the offer with a thank you. For me, there was a principle involved in that I was trying to get that stonehead from GM to do the right thing, which we all know by now that at that time, I was living in Fantasy Land. (-: RW> I don't blame you. The man's word wasn't worth your time. Those guys don't realize that their word is what a man lives by, IF they have any honor in them at all. They didn't sell any RW> Chevrolets, they turned the entire place into a large garage to RW> service farm equipment and kept the dealership on the side for RW> parts purchasing at dealer cost. Ingenius! (-: RW> They soon expanded the garage to include a Goodyear tire store, RW> Oliver farm equipment and they pumped DX gasoline. They made a RW> small fortune at it for years, then my uncle died. My dad didn't RW> want my aunt (my mothers sister) as his partner, so they agreed to RW> sell it. The 2009 Camaro will have the LS2, a 400hp, 400ft/lb RW>> torquer from 6L. I feel cheated driving around in a car with about 250hp. RW> They out perform the Dodge Viper, which has 2 more cylinders. :o) RW> Vipers have huge brakes, but they don't stop the car like the RW> Corvette brakes do. I saw the engine compartment in a Viper and it impressed me, but I hasten to add that I wouldn't want to work on one. RW> They say that you should match the ports, but that's not how I did RW> it. I put a radius on the into-port and made the out-port slightley RW> smaller. No obstructions. We were unconcerned about matching ports. We just wanted to get everything as smooth as possible. RN> That's probably why the dealer wants over $500 to R&R it. RW> 6 hours to take it apart ($210), 24 minutes to R&R the core ($14) RW> and 6 hours to put it back together ($210), plus your cost for RW> parts. Is that the repair manual price? I know you didn't pluck those figures out of thin air. RN> Let's see... I did that when I was 17 and got back home after filling RN> up on Krystal burgers and seeing a movie which was followed by a RN> "sneak preview" midnite movie. I got back home about 02:00, but I had RN> a key to the house and I didn't hear a harsh word from my mother the RN> next morning. RW> My mother never said a word either. :o) You're kidding me, right? Maybe you heard a lot from your dad. RW>> The trailer being too warm, turn on the AC and save the gas. No, no. The trailer was cozy. Who in their right mind would run the A/C in twenty degree weather? (-: RW> You said the trailer was too hot to sleep. :o) No I didn't. I said I couldn't go back to sleep after going outside in twenty degee weather and switching propane tanks. That is when I decided to get into my car and drive shivering all the way to Shoney's. The thermostat in the trailer worked perfectly, whereas the car had no working heater. 7 RW> Been there before. Anti-freeze is also very sticky when allowed to RW> dry on carpet. I got 99% of it up by soaking it up with paper towels. You can't tell it was once there unless you look closely to spot the carpet stain, which is very light.
