Well, when oil prices get to where they are now, the price of goods and
dservices go up.  That is a simple reality.

That is true in most cases.  This is an exceptional case in that the price
of oil and gas affect EVERYTHING.  No one would complain if their salaries
were comensurate with the cost of living.  Maybe we can all borrow some
money from that Exxon exec.
