While comparing australian and Boston U.S. cellular rates is
interesting, it does not prove much.
Cellular service is a commodity and in the U.S. sells for
whatever the carriers can get for it.
An Australian phone and airtime agreement is not much use in
Boston.  The choices will probably be Cellular One and
NYNEX/.Bell Atlantic mobile.
In general, you get a much better phone if you buy it yourself
than get a free one as a signing bonus.
