That in itself could be the problem. Some fish are not salt tolorent at all.  
I don't know about barbs, but you might check it out.
The current stat of the fish around here is breakdown by atrition.  No new 
fish are being bought, but the ones we have are hanging in there. The fish 
room floor is to be redone, so for at least that durationthe fish tanks have 
to go.  As we are notr in a hurry, we are letting it go bit by bit.  
Besides, Sue will morne that angelfish.  the thing is a pet that eats from 
er
hands.
