 That is precisely what I was thinking dealing with this whirlpool
unit which btw is not ours, it's a rental. My mil has the fold down door
model and it is nice! You can use the door opening to fold some items and
put into the basket. Nothing falls on the floor either :) Our won
Kenmore has the open to the side type door but it's easy to switch.
