-=> Quoting Cindy Haglund to Peter Coggon <=-
CH> Hi Peter. I haven't been in here in awhile... Re the itching. Have
CH> you ruled out allergies? Dry skin?
Hi Cindy. NO still open, and I think now I might have turned
the corner.
CH> I read something that might be very interesting to pet owners here..
CH> that sometimes the simplest of cures is what it's all about. :)
>
CH> Did you know some dogs get blisterson their nose? Yikes! That was a
CH> new one to me! The person writing to the Vet (Dr. Fox) in the paper
CH> said they had tried everything... well guess what! ALoe vera!
We have a natural Aloe Vera plant, so he is coming around, along
with some drugs to keep him ...sort of happy.
CH> The hard part is getting it on and not having the dog lick it off.
CH> hmm. heh...
Yes...like giving pills...he knows...and spits them out.
CH> If you get this column (Dr. Michael Fox) in your local paper, it's as
CH> close to holistic wrt remedies as you can get.
No Dr. Fox up here .... I have not brought a paper in years.
CH> Also if you need any help with training your dog, do as Cesar Millan
CH> said and train yourself to be assertive calm and to not do things that
CH> actually bring ON the behavior you wish to change.
I threaten him with sea duty ....
CH> On a message board elsewhere somebody said they spent a thousand bucks
CH> to have their dog trained not to steal food off the table and the dog
CH> still does it. How much you wanna bet the owner continues to feed the
CH> dog scraps of food off the table. heh. THINK.
Never feed the bears. That works for me, and I tell all my guests
that ...but ...oh well they never listen, and our bear-type pets do
their thing. Rusty has never stolen a thing off the table.
The cats do.
CH> One last thing: A lot of people get a dog based on looks and they
CH> don't think about energy levels (theirs/the dog's)... nor the dogs
CH> needs for such things as simple as a mile or two walk a day....
Yes .... my mother told me about their pet whippet.
CH> It saddens me as a pet owner to see big dogs cooped up all day and you
CH> wonder why they go nutty... become aggressive or fearful?? gee...
CH> Wouldn't YOU go nuts if you were treated as though you were a stuffed
CH> animal ? As some view pets: gifts to do with as we please?
Yes. If only they'd realize how better the dog would be if
given consideration.
CH> Cinders
>
CH> ... Never feed a pet anything that clashes with the carpet.
Good to hear from you .... In the next few weeks, I will
be really consentrating on Rusty. I mean he is in for all day
24/7 work to get to the bottom on his medical problems.
I have his legs to where I want them. I have also reduced his
need for some drugs ....and now next week with lots of time
and scheduled for him, I will start.
