I'm using QuikEdit v2.41 very successfully! Works great, no batch file to 
mess with, sets up in minutes.
My first suggestion to you is to use your welcome.mec to add a link to the 
dorinfo.mec to create drop files. Then in your MAX.CTL enter commands as 
follows:
LOCAL EDITOR       C:\MAX\QKED\QUIKEDIT.EXE /F:%S
LOCAL EDITOR      @C:\MAX\QKED\QUIKEDIT.EXE /F:%S
If QuikEdit fails to run check the following...
-Silt Max?
-Turn off SPellChecker in QuikEdit
-verify that drop files are being created
