RW> Don't tell my employer, but today a man from the apartments at the RW> entrance to this community came knocking on my door today. He told me RW> a story about how he and his wife have been unemployed since the RW> Owen-Corning glass manufacturer shut down their plant in this area. RW> How they didn't have the money to spend on luxury items (although he RW> had RW> alcohol on his breath) and that they needed their Dodge pickup Reminds me of a picture in the Star Telegram (Fort WOrth) re a story on low income (40K) families getting aid for repairs on their cars. This picture told a story all of it's own. Let me describe it and you tell me what you see. It's warm summer night. the couple is standing in front of their well lit house (can't see much of that and it might be rented)- by their... new... SUV.... He's smoking and she looks like she's headed for the health problems obesity are known to cause. Now okay. It is NOBODY's Business that they are both engaging in self abusive habits that by no means are cheap. It is nobody's business what kind of car they own. My question here is: Why, if they can afford this lifestyle (big car, bad habits somebody else will pay for the consequences of) - why should they get aid for that car's upkeep? Why don't they just get a smaller cheaper car? If they gave up their bad habits they might be able to afford keeping the car in good shape... hmm. Cindy ...
