Well the PMA announcement season kicked off with two Nikons. The D70 is a
$999US digital SLR body with a 6.1MP sensor. An 18mm to 70mm f-3.5 - f-4.5
DX lens was announced as well. With the multiplication factor, it gives the
coverage equivalent to a 27mm->105mm on a 35mm camera. They will be offered
together for $1299. http://www.dpreview.com/articles/nikond70/

A replacement for the CP5700 is the CP8700, with an 8MP sensor. It will
shoot images with resolutions from 640 x 480 to 3264 x 2448. It appears to
be identical in body and lens to the CP5700 and using the same line of
accessories. It now has an AF assist illuminator for help in dim light
focusing. $999US complete.

They also announced a pocket storage device with a 30GB hard drive and view
screen. http://www.dpreview.com/news/0401/04012802nikoncoolwalker.asp

The next few weeks should be very interesting, as the other companies
announce their new goodies as well. It is also expected that Nikon will
announce a replacement for their old D1X and probably a replacement for the
D100 unless the D70 is it.
