-> I've not jumped into this discussion before now, but I have to agree
-> with you on this. If we could get a veto-proof Congress seated,
-> =both= houses, then it doesn't matter who the President is. Much
-> easier to get Congresscritters elected than a President.
I've been mulling a few thoughts over ever since I first posted this.
Let me run them by you, Lyle.
I'm a member of the Republican Liberty Caucus, the organization of
libertarians who have given up on third party politics and are now
working within the Republican Party to turn it towards libertarian
goals.
One of their principal methods is outreach to Young Republicans &
College Republicans. They set up an information table at all their
conventions, pass out literature, and generally push the freedom agenda.
We think this will be a fruitful strategy, long term. Many of these
Young Republicans & College Republicans will become party activists in
the future. Many will become candidates and hold political office.
Maybe we need to organize a "Republican Second Ammendment Society" of
committed 2nd Ammendment people who are also Republicans who will also
attend these conventions and do outreach to these people.
If we can win enoujgh of them over in the early stages, it's a lot more
likely that most of the people who seek office will be pro-2nd.
On a related note, the NRA should create a special newsletter or
magazine for such people and make it available FREE to ALL Young
Republicans & College Republicans.
Ernie, did you catch that?
Regards
John
