Associated Press today (Jan.23rd) released a report from Eastman Kodak,
Rochester, NY, stating that about a fourth of their employees would be
downsized over the next three years. The cuts are scheduled to be made in
their film area of operations.

We had heard a rumor of this via a Christmas Card note from a well placed
source formerly in Kodak's warehouse/distribution division but no
confirmations since then. When Wayne recently posted a note regarding Kodak
camera cutbacks I thought that might have been something to do with, in
fact, significant reductions in their production of film materials.
Apparently, that is what lies ahead and the new focus will be trying to hold
their position against competition by reversing their slow entry into
digitals.

No doubt film products will remain available to address current demands, but
the old days seem to be fading..
