He's the one who used his supposed reading of a book to bolster his claim.
Too bad he wasn't even close to the answer.

If it's outside of the universe there is no way of seeing and studying it.  

Of you want to call it "god", go for it.  But, do realize that if you ckain
that that entity interfaces with this universe, whatever is out there is no
longer outside the universe.  At that point, evidence will be required.
