ALL aftermarket pickup manufacturers seem to have come to the conclusion
that if there is someone minding the winding machine, that means
handwound.  It makes sense to me because it would take forever to sit
there and wind them by hand.  They usually stop the machine at some
point and "scatter-wind" a few turns in there to simulate a hand wound
mistake.
Silly, but true..
