I disagree about the cell phone on the boat idea... I have tried to use my
cellular on my boat down here in San Diego, and unless I am inside the harbor
(Which is very rarely) I can not get any coverage at all (And this is in a
big city such as San Diego...) Too many people are being misled by the
cellular phone industry into thinking that is all they need on their vessle
and not putting the money into getting the more expensive VHF Marine, SSB
Marine, or HAM Radio sets that can handle communications for much longer
distances... A 2 Meter Packet Connection at say 50 Watts can get me all the
way from Catalina Island San Diego, whereas a Celluar Phone just wouldn't cut
it!!! Remeber also if you have a SSB fax printer you can get Marine Wheather
faxes VIA SSB...
