Oh man. I was afraid you'd ask. This is the only topology that's SPECed
in FEET and the one I always forget as well. I think it's....2000'
from active hub to W/S or hub, and 100' from pasive hub to W/S, and a
total of 20,000'.
So, given enough active hubs (they act as repeaters and passive hubs do
not) a little better than 3.5 MILES or about 6 KiloMeters.
IE. a LONG way away, for a LAN!

Getting the servers to SEE each other sounds easy, but what lets the
UNIX workstations use the files off the NW server and vice-versa?
NFS? (how much does THAT cost?) Or does the Linux distribution come
with a solve?
