I use Acronis for backup purposes and generally like it. It has a barebone
restore function but also, something I particulary like, the possibility to
add the image as a network disk so you can just browse it, copy files, etc.
as if it were a network share. That is, of course, if you create an image
on a disk, don't know about tapes.
