                       GUNS Conference Rules
                             09/04/96
1. This echo allows both technical and political talk as long as
it is related to firearms or the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.
2. Don't talk about anything illegal, such as how to build any
illegal devices, or how to commit illegal acts. Don't
express any ideas or desires or encouragements or enticements
about committing illegal acts, or overthrowing the
government, that's conspiracy. Also specifically forbidden
are instructions, enticements, or encouragements about making
explosives, silencers, full-auto weapons, or any other
    illegal or Class III device.
Big Brother is watching. That's not paranoia, that's fact.
Don't write anything that you would not say publicly, face to
face with a police officer or a federal agent, because in
effect, you are. Don't write anything you would not want used
in a courtroom someday, because all messages are journaled
somewhere, by someone, I guarantee you. Don't write anything
you would not want your boss to read.
3. It's ok to sign public messages with your PGP key.
It's ok to publicly transmit your public PGP key.
4. If you want to encrypt a message, please send it netmail, as
the sysops paying for all this, and traditionally, echo
conferences are not the place for PRIVATE mail.
5. NO FLAMING!
This is a PRO-GUN forum. If you're not PRO-GUN you are
welcome to come here to learn, but not to spout drivel.
Those who oppose the 2nd amendment run the risk of being
banned from the conference, if, in the discretionary and
arbitrary judgement of the moderator, they are not behaving.
LIBEL, in the legal definition of the term, is illegal, and
    is forbidden in this conference.
Playful banter and a sense of humor is allowed as long as it
    is on topic.
6. Avoid the kind of message where the only thing besides the
quotes is "Thanks" or "ROTFLMAO". Use netmail for that.
Try to avoid the off-topic, or meaningless, or one-liner
"Thanks", or "ROTFLMAO", or funny-come-back types of
    messages.
6. Let the moderator(s) do the moderating.
Dave Appel is the only other person with the moderating privalages!
7. Networks permitted to carry this conference:
       A. Fidonet, Zone 1. No other zones! (If you have to
           ask why, send private netmail.)
       B. If you are a member of "other networks", but you are
still part of Fidonet, in the current North American
Nodelist, and have a legitimate Zone 1 net/node
           number, you may carry this.
Gating or cross-posting to networks not listed above is
       expressly forbidden.
All North American "other network" sysops please ask
permission, it will probably be given, as long as you don't
re-distribute the conference to unapproved networks.
Networks not permitted to carry this echo:
       A. Any commercial network, including but not limited to:
           - Compuserve - GEnie
           - Prodigy - America OnLine
           - Bix - Delphi
       B. Internet, Usenet, any newsgroup.
       C. RIME, except those bulletin boards which are also
members of those networks specifically allowed to
          carry this conference.
8. Reprints.
No message from this conference may be published or
reprinted in an electronic publication without express
     permission of the message's author.
No message from this conference may be published or
reprinted in a printed publication (hard copy) without
express permission of the message's author AND the
     conference moderator.
Express permission of the original author(s) of quoted
portions of messages must also be obtained in order to
publish or reprint such quoted portions of messages.
Example: if John quotes Sam, then both John and Sam must
give permission to publish or reprint John's entire message.
Of course, only John's permission is needed to publish or
reprint just John's portion of the message, as long as John
knows you are omitting Sam's portion.
9. Commercial Use.
Commercial use of an echo in Fidonet is frowned upon. Most
sysops are paying for this out of their own pockets, and
don't want to foot the bill for commercial advertising.
However, store owners or businessmen MAY respond to want-ads
from people looking for specific products. If someone asks
"where can I get a blah-blah-blah?" feel free to respond if
you have a blah-blah-blah in stock.
You may post an occasional "press release" type of message
if you have a _new_ or unique product that is of interest to
    the conference participants.
If you do work at or own a store, you may give store name,
number and location when you introduce yourself to the
    conference.
Advice, comments, and recommendations about commercial
products in response to a question are always appropriate.
10. Individual For Sale ads.
Individual for sale and wanted ads are ok, with certain
    requirements.
There are many state and federal laws governing the sale of
firearms across state lines. Any ad for a regulated item,
such as a firearm, MUST STATE that proper FFL-to-FFL legal
procedures, AND ALL APPLICABLE LAWS will be adhered to by
seller and buyer. PLEASE STATE IT IN THE AD!
Gun parts and accessories that do NOT require an FFL-to-FFL
transfer when sold across state lines are ok. This includes
accessories, ammo, and parts that do not require a serial
    number.
11. The moderator hates whiners and cry-babies. If you feel you
    are being picked on, leave.
The moderator reserves the right to ban anyone from the
conference for *any* reason, and to cut-off any BBS whose
sysop fails to prevent a banned person from posting.
12. Unless being discussed in direct relation to the 2nd
Amendment, contemporary US militias are off topic.
