Dear Penny, 
      I'm glad that you found a [kinda] close chapter of the SCA.  They 
may be able to tell you of a still closer group.   Believe me, we are 
scattered ALL OVER.    In any case i suspect that you will find the 
doings worth the trip. 
      There is a little booklet called 'Forward Into the Past.  On the 
3rd to the last page, you will find a list of some of the crafts 
presently being practiced in the SCA.  When i joined, [if you exclude 
those directly connected with combat]  i was already doing 2/3 of the 
items listed.   I'm sure you will find yours too.
