Greetings....
Has anyone out there ever shot a 16" aerial shell?
As I get ready to help shoot our local fireworks show, I have a chance
to try one of these out, maybe. You see, for the last ten years I
have been active in our local town's show by providing the necessary
paper work, funding, purchasing, setup and firing. (hate clean up)
This year we have changed our site for the display from a site next
to the local high school to a huge field next to the airport.
The high school site made it a little difficult to shoot any really
large shells for the fear of a "blind" shell falling and doing any
damage to houses, etc.
The new site makes it possible to shoot this shell without the fear
of any retribution. The only problem is I haven't convinced our
supplier to sell us one. Evidently, he thinks that this 16" shell
is just a *little* too big. :-)
We have, in the past, shot the whole gamut.... from 2" salutes,
to 12" color shells. Now, to me, a 16" shell is not much different
than a 12".....other than cost :-) Which brings me to my question.
Is the 16" shell *really* worth the extra cost over the 12"?
Would it be better to just shoot a few more 12's and forget the 16?
It would be fun though to say "there's a 16" one!"
But my supplier is getting a little aggravated by me hounding him.
Maybe you guys could could give me some pointers to sway his decision.
Thanks.
