SP> MM>Heehee... I have something better than body armor - I have a husband!
Last
SP> MM>weekend he was going to cut back the bottom leaves (which are rotting
in
SP>
SP> Sure, a hubby is better than body armour...if he'll save your skin and
SP> actually do it. :-)
Yup - he hacked away at the lower leaves this weekend! The wasps came back
though, so we have to spray some more...
SP> It doesn't always work that way, Michelle. :-( Sugar peas take longer
SP> than regular (early) bush peas to flower and give pods. However, I
SP> am planting some climbing snow peas in spite of that - they are more
SP> prolific, take up less room vertically on a fence (no kneeling or
SP> bending to pick most of them) - and you don't have to throw away that
SP> crunchy juicy pod! :-)
Ah heck... the flowers themselves are a pretty sight, so if I don't get any
peas, it's no big loss I guess. I planted them right next to a chain link
fence so I didn't have to put up any trellises for them. Now my main
problem is to keep cats from thinking the freshly turned soil makes a good
litter box. I may put some chile powder out there this week to see if that
dissuades them.
Have fun, Michele
