This Article is taken from The Returned Sailors and Soldiers' Imperial
League of Australia, Official Year Book of 1939. It is stamped 'Defence
Issue' and the price was 1/6, or 1 shilling and 6 pence in the old
pre-decimal currency. After World War 2 the RSSILA became the RSL - Returned
Services League.
Spelling is as in the original articles.
LEAGUE OF NATIONS IRONY.
While the fate of Europe hung in the balance, the League of Nations in
September last ironically decided that it could not recognise Germany's
union with Austria.
It was pointed out that recognition was impossible because Germany was still
technically a member of the League.
MAN-POWER TO-DAY.
Trained man-power of the nations which might be involved in a European war
was estimated by military experts at the end of 1938 to be approximately:

Of Russia's 42 divisions 18 are in the Far East
