I believe to be computer literate, one should at least have a
rudimentary knowledge of almost everything concerning computers-even
programming. I don't remember a whole lot of the BASIC programming I
did back in the early 80's in college, but I remember enough to
appreciate what a programmer does and it helps me to understand
computers in general. Programming also teaches other skills such as
very important problem solving skills.
