There is an oath that military swear to. Largely the constitution but yes, the
president is the commander in chief.

The oath goes something like this..

I, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the
United States against all enemies; foreign and domestic...

There are different oaths. Some include obey "the President of the United
States" and/or Governor.

 WD> No checks? No balance? There's a word for that.

The constitution of the US never took into account a narcissist president.
