JP> Dave, realistically, we have to stop thinking about a
JP> monolithic block of gun owners. Millions of gun owners are
JP> union members who will vote primarily on economic issues.
JP> Millions are right-wing Christians who will vote primarily
JP> on right-to-life. The Libertarians are free-traders who
JP> despise Buchanon's protectionism.
JP> Any strategy to defend and strengthen our 2nd Ammendment
JP> rights has to recognize this reality and work within it.
JP> I'm not quite sure how to go about this.
JP> Maybe we should de-emphasize the presidential race and
JP> concentrate on a congress made up of strongly pro-2nd
JP> politicians, whatever their position is on free trade,
JP> abortion, right-to-work, etc.
I've not jumped into this discussion before now, but I have to agree with you
on this. If we could get a veto-proof Congress seated, =both= houses, then
it doesn't matter who the President is. Much easier to get Congresscritters
elected than a President.
JP> We're gonna also have to take a long hard look at whether
JP> we want the NRA to continue staying neutral during the
JP> primaries.
Also agreed.
