CH> Yes - it is confusing enough.
CH> The steps are "suggested".
CH> The order is also "suggested".
TR> Where is the order suggested?
In that the steps themselves are suggested, one could interpret that
the order is also suggested. My experience on this bears it out.
I was able to admit that my life was unmangable way before I was
willing to admit that I was powerless over alcohol. I didn't drink
because they *said* it would get better if I didn't (although I didn't
really believe them). I did a step 3 based on the tried and true
method of "act as if" well before the I truly came to believe as
stated in step 2. I made numerous financial amends prior to doing
a 4th step. I didn't need an inventory to know that I owed people
money. In fact, had I waited until reaching the 9th step, I would
have done additional damage that doing this step "out of order"
saved me from inflicting.
TR> Have you ever taken them? If you haven't then would you mind trying to
TR> limit your "advice" to your experience?
Thom, the attitude that you're displaying in your recent posts would make
any of us who don't know you well wonder if *you'd* taken them. ;-)
Hugs,
Harriet
