Some time back I read that about $1,300 of the price of every vehicle GM makes
goes to pay health benefits for its employees and retirees.  The numbers are
probably similar for Ford and Chrysler - but NOT for imports or 'domestic imports'
as those companies don't have that overhead and also have a much younger work
force with few, if any, retirees.
