If I double-click on JPEG files, they display. But after veiwing a
number of files, the viewer (what program is that, anyway?) hangs with
"Opening..." and the clock-face cursor. 

From this point on, attempting to view *any* JPEG just results in
another window with the same hang. 

I have to shutdown and restart to get the ability to view graphics
back. And when I do, all the open windows display the graphics just
fine. 

Any ideas as to what's wrong?
