-> If Clinton is re-elected, the blame cannot be entirely laid upon
-> Browne voters.
Of course not. I'm merely saying that a vote for Browne isn't helpful
to defeating Clinton.
-> We *all* are to blame BECAUSE we should have gotten
-> behind pro-gun presidential contenders THREE-1/2 YEARS AGO. If 70
-> million gun owners had become politically active for a PRO-gun
-> party/candidate back in 1993 (immediately after Clinton took office),
-> in preparation for the 1996 elections, we would have had a real
-> pro-gun contender vying for the presidency right now.
Dave, realistically, we have to stop thinking about a monolithic block
of gun owners. Millions of gun owners are union members who will vote
primarily on economic issues. Millions are right-wing Christians who
will vote primarily on right-to-life. The Libertarians are free-traders
who despise Buchanon's protectionism.
Any strategy to defend and strengthen our 2nd Ammendment rights has to
recognize this reality and work within it.
I'm not quite sure how to go about this.
Maybe we should de-emphasize the presidential race and concentrate on a
congress made up of strongly pro-2nd politicians, whatever their
position is on free trade, abortion, right-to-work, etc.
We're gonna also have to take a long hard look at whether we want the
NRA to continue staying neutral during the primaries.
Regards
John
