I used to run an ISP and managed 100s of domains. Where I work now we have over 5,000. I've never had this happen. I won't say it isn't possible for someone to to get the userid and password to the registrant's admin account at the registry service but all someone would need to do is contact the registry service. They would want to investigate and resolve it quickly. They don't take these things lightly.
