Message-ID: http://seanwaltmancom.proboards30.com/index.cgi?action=usersrecentposts&user=masterofwrestling I had not even watched television in almost a year up until a month ago. But recently I have caught some of the shows & I think that the concept Vince had about creating two different brands of WWE, that everyone considered a miserable failure at one point, has worked as he had visualized . Vince said in the meeting announcing the plan for the RAW & Smackdown seperate brands that sometimes you have to take a step back to take two steps forward. He was right about that. The step back was a painful one for everyone after being used to the incredible run of business we had from 98 through 2002. But it takes time to build new stars & it doesn't matter how great they are technically, they have to be established in the minds of the public. The new stars of WWE are starting to become etablished. Vince has invested in some excellent people. Randy Orton among others stand out to me. What I see that gives Me hope that Wrestling will come out from under the dark cloud of premature deaths currently associated with it, is the fact that these guys aren't living as reckless a lifestyle as past generations, myself included. What you see on WWE now are world class athletes. Not just entertainers. They deserve the respect and recognition that other world class athletes are given. I remember Reggie White telling Me that Wrestling was the hardest thing He ever did. That is coming from an all time NFL great. Chris Jericho looked great on a recent show I saw. Shawn Michaels is always great. I haven't seen enough of the story lines to give an opinion on that. I hope that they aren't devoting anymore televison time to Big Show eating burritos & losing his match because he had the shits & ran out of the ring. Whoever came up with that doesn't respect Wrestling fans. I am very disappointed that they were determined to "humanize" Kane. The value of "mystique" is greatly underestimated in this case. When Kane & I were partners, I argued against Kane talking with the voice machine & any of the backstage interaction I thought was counter productive to his character. In my opinion there has never been anyone who was able to use body language in the way Kane did. Kamala was damn good too. But Kane & Rey Mysterio are the only two masked wrestlers to be true superstars in the modern era of wrestling(mid 80s to present). The other masked guys from that point on were usually the guys that lost the 3 minute squash match & wanted to hide their faces. I seem to always ramble of the subject when I do this, so I will end this now.
