I felt that way too when I wrote winntscr.c originally, but a lot of it was
just guesswork as I was not really at all familiar with the Win32 API at
the time.  I stole a few ideas from the source code of the Win32 port of
BinkleyTerm...  :-)

It's a "fault" of Win9x/ME's console subsystem, although the code
could probably be optimised more so it's not as noticable, but I don't know
whether it's worth the trouble (is there anyone running the NT version
under Win9x?).  It's fine in Windows NT 4/2000 on my AMD K6-2 350 machine. 
I assume it's OK under XP too.
