subject: Maximus filesystem on NT Server: problem19:41:0001/15/98

Hi Scott,

SD> If so, are you having any problems?
JB>> server. The problem is that previously entered lines by user 1
JB>> are redisplayed to user 2 each time user 1 enters another line
 JB>> (and
JB>> vice versa.) I have even seen it redisplay the "user joins the
 JB>> conversation" message.
I have an update for you. One of my points suggested that I set up the IPC
directory on one of the Win95 workstations and point everyone to that. It
worked. However, this is a workaround, not a solution. One of the things I
have to do to make it work is keep a user logged into the NT Server in order
to map a drive to the IPC directory on the Win95 workstation so that
background tasks such as mail tossing can write their IPC files.
So, it appears that the problem I'm experiencing may have something to do
with the IPC directory being on an NTFS volume on the NT server. Do you have
an NT workstation? Does it have an NTFS volume? Can you set up an IPC
directory on the NTFS volume and try it out?
Please let me know if you have any further thoughts on this. I'd really much
rather have the IPC directory on the server.
Thanks,
...jim
