JP> -> Well we agree on one point, anyway.
JP> Yep. Believe me, Dole was my LAST choice among those seeking the
JP> Republican nomination. I was a Gramm supporter who voted for Steve
JP> Forbes in the NY Primary.
JP> Do you REALLY think that Clinton isn't a **MUCH** BIGGER schmuck?
JP> Especially after the Democratic Convention?
Yes, I do. Of course, I'm not voting for him either.
Your point, however, is that only Dole stands a chance of defeating
Clinton. The thing you have to remember is that it's darned near
impossible for the Democrats to regain control of Congress. That being
the case, we have to ask who will be more dangerous to our freedom *in
combination with a Republican Congress*.
Slick will be opposed at every step, but Republicans will not be eager
to embarass a Republican president. Now consider the following:
1. Dole has already said that he wants to extend the GCA 68 and the
Brady Bill. Clinton can't get Brady II through Congress, but Dole can.
2. Sheila Burke, who keeps a portrait of Margaret Sanger over her desk,
will probably be White House Chief of Staff. She's exceedingly liberal
and anti-gun.
3. Colin Powell and Henry Hyde will likely be offered cabinet positions
- both anti-gun.
It's a rotten choice, and it's not automatic that the lesser schmuck is
the better choice. Personally, I can't stomach either of them so I'm
voting for Browne.
